An inshore fishing charter with Fins and Family Fishing features fishing in calm, protected waters such as bays, canals, lagoons, and tidal rivers. Best for groups of four or fewer, inshore fishing is a great choice families with kids and novice anglers. Species we catch inshore vary a bit with the time of year, wind and weather conditions, and the composition of each charter group but can include species such as Redfish, Speckled Trout, White Trout, Black Drum, Sheepshead, Spanish Mackerel, Bluefish, Black Snapper, Pompano, and Flounder. Our light tackle approach features fishing styles such as casting live baits or jigs under popping floats, drifting live and dead baits across the bottom, casting artificial lures and plugs, and free lining live baits. We use these techniques to fish over open water oyster beds, along salt marsh grasses, near bridges and passes, on edges of sand bars and channels, near docks, and more. Live shrimp is one of our favorite inshore bait choices but we sometimes fish Bull Minnows or Fiddler Crabs if the fish prefer them.
A Fins and Family Fishing near shore fishing charter will feature great saltwater fishing action within approximately 3 nautical miles of the beach. Offered exclusively in Orange Beach our near shore fishing charters offer a chance to experience the thrill of fishing in the Gulf of Mexico without having to go out of sight of land. Our top rated Orange Beach near shore fishing charters are best for groups of four or fewer, children 10 years of age and above or who fish quite a bit, and guest who weigh less than 300 pounds. Near shore fishing charters can be a fun way to introduce new anglers to a conservative yet exciting Gulf of Mexico fishing experience.
Our near shore charter fishing techniques vary a bit with the time of year and the interests of our anglers. In the spring and winter we focus a tremendous amount of our time on light tackle bottom fishing. In the summer and fall we add trolling fishing and with some groups and good conditions we can fish flat lines as well. The techniques we feature most for each group is often based on the time of year, wind and current, the number of anglers aboard, and the overall skill level of our guests. Active styles such as fishing flat lines are best for small groups with moderate to high skill levels while bottom fishing and trolling can be best for our larger groups and least skilled. Trolling fishing can be a blast and it is the number one style of warm water near shore fishing for large or inexperienced groups. Trolling fishing starts with laid back low speed cruising in near shore waters while pulling spoons, dusters, and crank baits behind the boat trying to attract some of the fastest swimming fish species in the gulf. But don't get too relaxed while we cruise because when a fish strikes the adrenaline starts pumping and the fight is on! We often catch awesome saltwater species such as Spanish Mackerel, King Mackerel, Bonita, Bluefish, jacks and the occasional shark while trolling in summer.
Our offshore fishing charters feature exciting trolling and bottom fishing action in the beautiful waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Whether your group has fished in the open waters of the Gulf of Mexico before or you have a family of first time saltwater anglers, we have an offshore fishing charter for you!
